Bookies odds look like a straight fight between McCarthy and Hoddle.

McCarthy done it before with getting teams up and Hoddle only screwed up with England due to some religious beliefs??

Rumours say Hoddle with big Dave Beasant no 2

Hoddle has definitely emerged as the strong favourite.
I'm with you Oaky, can't standy McCrappy.
To be fair, Hoddle just had some dubious people around him and some rather bizarre beliefs which should have stayed out of his football role.

His stats are all pretty good though - 60% win rate with England (2nd only to Sir Alf and Fabio), and Chelsea, Saints and Spurs both did well under him.

Be good if Beasant were his number two - more Red folk in the system.

(Had forgotten that he was a Dingle in his last managerial role, though!) Laughing

It's got to be Stuart Pearce. Anyone else would be there just for the cash. Cut pyscho's arm and it's got Forest written all the way through it.

Have everyone forgot he has vast experience with Man City, England under 21, England first team, and more important with the tricky trees.

Can you imagine the support, arm chair fans returning in droves, the songs, the chants, he's got to be the best dam left back this world had ever seen and he would bring that fighting spirit to our wonderful club.

And remember when he broke his leg at West Ham and tried to run it off, when they phoned his wife and said "Stuart has a broken leg" and she replied "Who's"

He is a leader of men, he should be the leader of Nottingham Forest.

STUART PEARCE FOR MANAGER

You've suddenly got me thinking. He is all wound-up with the England set-up, but he'll never have a better time to tale the reins at Forest.
And you're right - noone better, in my opinion.

'Iconic' is the one word that is most appropriate to Pearcey.

It's looking like McCarthy.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I'm not a fan of his, but when you think about it, at Championship level he's been more successful than Billy Davies and he would come without all the squabbling baggage that Billyboy brings with him wherever he goes.

It could be a good appointment to get us promotion, after that I'm not so sure.

Iconic manager, you mean someone like SM. I am not a fan of Mick McCarthy but he does have a good record at getting teams promoted to the Prem, keeping them there is a different matter. I don't expect Forest to emulate Man City or Utd but to become an established Prem team like Stoke, Fulham, Villa, Everton and maybe Newcastle. Don't want to be fighting off relegation every year.

Just waiting for something to happen like the new manager coming in and a player being given a contract. So far players have gone and the manager has gone and the USA jolly has gone and time is running out.

The new owners have been saying the right things but can they start to do something. Lets get the show on the road.

Hmmmmmm. Timing or what?

Manchester United's Ryan Giggs says he is preparing to become a manager and the Team GB football captain says he will use the Olympics to see what lessons can be learned from other sports.

Former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy will be tempted back into management by Nottingham Forest.

They also said that the 4 or 5 have proven championship experience (Did Hoddle manage Swindon in the CCC ? ) and they would be honoured to work with him if he was chosen as the next boss,

Nailed on for him , ..........................................What a Face or Warnock ...........................................................

Mcarthy has the know how to build us up and challenge for promotion, Wolves played us off the park in their promotion season and battered us, would love to see us play that way.

Hoddle is by all accounts a very good coach but let himself down with England with non football matters.

Pearce has a reputation for negative tactics with the u21's, failed miserably in a recent Euro tournament and had a team full of negativity, got hammered in the press.

Warnock, no thanks.

Darren Ferguson, very good with Peterborough but failed at Preston. With money to spend and his old man for advice and loan players he could be ok.

Keano, achieved promotion with Sunderland when backed with money but only seems to last a couple of years.

Alan Curbishly not had a mention but could be in the frame.

Harry Redknapp would totally transform the place but would always be after more money, aka Billy boy and not sure if he'd drop down a div.

My choice would be Mcarthy 1st followed by Hoddle.

New owners appear to have done their homework!

Team first then revenue which suggeste Premiership first then ground and revenue.

Local Councils all making the right noises unlike when ground relocation was promoted?.....times have changed!

Like what I heard at the press conference which explains why Cotternil has left and hopefully why one or two of our out of contract "stars" have not been had the nod because we are shooting a little higher?

New owners ,new ideas looking in from the outside . We have some money to invest to get £90m in the Premiership so.....Who out there gets teams up?

Warnock - under contract, buying players and hated by Forest fans.

Bruce - Gone to Hull never to return!

McLeish - Available a contender

McCarthy - Available done it twice with different clubs

Keane - Done it once with Sunderland, but fallen out with Fergie and seems to have problems with players who are not as good as him?

Holloway- Blackpool on a budget, then nearly again with a different squad

Megson - No more T shirts...................please!

Coyle - Too emotionally attached to his club

Davies - One hit wonder, worst points tally, then the nearly man!

Houghton - Missed our chance!

Conclusion. McCarthy or Holloway to get us up, then pay the money to get us someone who knows how to get us into Europe. No time for sentiment if our owners are going to walk the walk?

They have passion for foootball and wide business interests and cash?..............so maybe just maybe they will make the right decision?

Who can't love Holloway but mebbe a tad outspoken for the Marthur camp. Hopefully the new owners will make the choice without his input.Pity he was kept on, the only bit of the TO that doesn't impress is keeping him.

I suspect his retention is just short term; to have a new Chief Executive, who wasn't familiar with the Club, right now would be too disruptive, with so much needing to happen quickly.
