| Prem clubs coming down are not affected in their first season in Championship and with their parachute payments they seem to get an unfair advantage if I'm reading it correctly? | |

| What's happened to the quote and reply button?....
Paulywils..Not sure it's like that. I think it says if they benefit from the advantage and go straight back up they would still be caught by the fair play tax....so if they spent all the parachute money to get up and it was over 10m more than they made that year they could be taxed 100% and basically totally screw themselves in the prem
what I'm not clear on is what this means right now to our prospective owners...

| I cant see any club being attractive to buy if they cant invest with loans, its going to have to be their own money they risk, they usually want it back off the club.
The Football League (without Prem) are a BILLION in debt and they ALL make a loss as far as I am aware, so why would a prospective owner want that except for love like the late ND? And even he would have taken some of his money back had we reached the Prem?

| FFP should help Forest in the long run if we are following the Norwich /Swansea models. However, the challenge for the new owners is to substantially raise commercial revenues which is something the Doughty plan failed to address as he clearly put his eggs in the World Cup bid which would have delivered a new stadium. Norwich are a similar size club to Forest with a ground capacity of 27,500. However, looking at their Championship accounts to May 2011 they spent roughly the same as Forest on Football costs circa £16m but Norwich's turnover was £23m compared with Forest's £15m. Herein lies the problem for Forest As a regional capital Nottingham is a bigger city than Norwich with more opportunity to generate commercial revenues but the club have consistently failed to capitalise on this. The fans have a romantic affinity to the City Ground but compared to other progressive clubs it is just not fit for purpose. The prospects of moving in the future are nil in the current climate but there is the potential to upgrade the ground significantly and provide better commercial and matchday facilities. The only deal that makes any sense for a purchaser is for the ND Estate to write off the debt on condition that any new purchaser injects substantial funds into the ground infrastructure. Players wages will have to follow turnover under FFP so the only way forward to compete on the field is to develop the ground and commercial revenues. We really need an international sports leisure group to take us forward to break out the Little Nottinghamers mindset that is the hallmark of Martha and the management team. If The Pies get promoted then the club should seriously look at a ground share with new owners which is the only way we will ever get a state of the art stadium to compete. The next 2 months are the most important in the clubs history as they have to get the sale right and clear out the old regime. Fortunately the sale is not in Martha's hands but there is still no excuse for not setting a budget for next year as the debts are underwritten. This is down to him and he owes it to SC and the fans to secure key players within the financial framework that was set out by ND before his death. New ownership will take its course in the meantime there is a business to run and contracts to agree . | |

Little Nottinghamers, let me tell you, that is what all clubs that are not what we are, want!
We are the greatest unmarketed football club on Planet.
MASSIVE WE ARE, Chelsea in 2012, still trying to do what we done TWICE!

NED Estate will pay someone to take the club off their hands given minus £100m down Agreed the best unmarketed club in the world in one of the UK's best cities and the best fan base in the East of England. Going forward, no stupid wages or fees. Provide an attractive and affordable product on and off the pitch to a willing audience. | Bring down entrance fees alot of youngsters would love to go and watch the beautiful game, I see them outside peering through the gaps in the gates trying to see a glimpse of the action. They've been priced out of it by commercialism.
30 odd quid to watch what as been mostly dross for years and years so a bunch of average players can take 108% of turnover in wages is scandalous.

| MA was employed by ND, buck stops at ND.
Has he failed as a owner? as he paid for any failings?
Did he try his best, with his money?
Only DEJA VU 2 and opening purse strings, and not enforcing unity, cost us Premiership IMO
Nearly nearly Forest Fledglings with a couple of pieces and a momentum to rattle the Premiership, was in play, closer than we think!

| Posted on LTLF, very interesting if true and is exactly what we should be doing.
My mate has something to do with Southampton FC and told me that the highest paid player on the Saints' books is the Japanese lad, Tadanari Lee, who is on £8k per week basic. Billy Sharpe joined for a fraction less and Lambert is paid around £6k. The Saints' business model is to pay lower than average basic but to supplement with significant "win" bonuses. The first team squad was on £300k per man to get promotion to the Premiership. The manager, Adkins, is on around £350k p a , but had a £1m bonus payable on promotion to the Premiership. Apparently, one of the first team squad asked the owner, "Do we get a bonus if we get to the play-offs?". After a minute or so Cortese (he effectively is the owner) said "I'll pay a bonus if you win the play-off final. I won't pay a bonus if you don't - if you don't like it, leave - I want only winners". Now, when Cloughie ruled supreme I think the basic pay even to the star names was miserly, but there was a significant bonus paid to the first team members each week that Forest were in the top 3 in the league. Why can't we go back to that - players wouldn't be paid for show-boating; winners would be rewarded and pay and results would go hand in hand.

However, Pauly, I think it will be interesting to see whether Lambert resists demanding significantly more when he's next due for contract talks, or has his head turned by someone else. I'd love to believe that he's a strong enough character not to.
